Privacy Policy

1. Overview

PassVerity is an independent, on-device MRZ and ePassport NFC reader with optional face liveness scanning. It uses the camera to transcribe the machine-readable zone printed on a compatible passport, can use those fields to read a compatible passport chip, and can compare a live face with a selected reference portrait. It does not provide identity verification.

2. Document data

When you scan or manually enter a document, the App processes the camera frames, MRZ text, parsed document fields, and compatible passport-chip data on your device. This information remains in the active scan flow and is discarded when the related screens close. Face images and face embeddings are handled the same way. PassVerity does not upload document images, MRZ data, chip data, face images, or face embeddings, place them in an account, or store them in a cloud database.

3. How document data is used

Document data is used only to recognize and display the machine-readable zone fields requested by you. Optional face data is used only for local liveness and face comparison. The App does not use this data for advertising, tracking, profiling, document authentication, immigration decisions, or travel decisions.

4. Sharing and disclosure

PassVerity does not sell, rent, disclose, transmit, or share document data with third parties. The camera flow does not use a gallery upload or a remote OCR service.

5. Other technical data

The App has no user accounts. It uses separate service providers for limited technical purposes:

• Apple App Store, Google Play, and RevenueCat: anonymous app-user identifiers, product information, purchase transactions, and entitlement status for the optional one-time Pro purchase.
• Google AdMob: device and ad-interaction data needed to request, display, secure, and measure advertising in the free version, subject to applicable consent choices.
• Firebase Crashlytics: crash diagnostics such as traces, app and device information, and an installation identifier.
• Firebase Cloud Messaging: a device installation token and notification interaction data after notification permission is requested.

These providers operate under their own privacy policies and retention practices. PassVerity does not send document images, MRZ data, passport-chip data, face images, or face embeddings to them.

6. Permissions and choices

Camera access is requested to scan the MRZ and, when you choose the face scanner, to run local liveness checks. NFC access is used only to read a compatible passport chip after the MRZ is entered. You can instead use manual entry when camera scanning is unavailable. Notification permission is optional. Where applicable, the App provides Google's privacy-options form for advertising choices.

7. Non-affiliation and limitations

This app does not represent a government entity. PassVerity is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or authorized by any government, passport authority, border agency, or official entity. Its results are an on-device transcription for personal reference and are not proof of identity, document authenticity, travel eligibility, or official status.
