With a tap, PassVerity authenticates to the e-passport chip over NFC using BAC or PACE, then reads the signed DG1 and DG2 data groups — document number, expiry and the portrait.

A randomized liveness challenge confirms a real person is in front of the camera, and the local FaceNet model compares the capture with the chip portrait. All inference runs on-device.
